The latest club news
More New Year news as Subculture have announced that Darshan Jesrani, one half of Metro Area will be joining them to see in the bells. And there’s also a chance for you to decide the playlist as ‘Harri and Dom have asked that you send in your top ten records of 2006 and they will attempt to play as many as they can. Send requests to firstname.lastname@example.org.’
Over in Edinburgh, Headspin have also confirmed they will be at the Bongo once again, playing a four deck mix of hip hop, funk, house, beats and more with a residence special.
Late congratulations are in order for the Edinburgh Clubbing Community Forum (www.eccf.co.uk). Their recent date at the Caves raised £5,000 which was matched by the National Lottery fund bringing the total to £10,000, all of which goes to Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation.
And finally, an event that will take some forward planning as Cape Town, South Africa, hosts its first two-week clubbing celebration, Global Breakthrough, from Sat 17 Feb-Sat 3 Mar. The plan is to create an event that becomes as much a fixture of the clubbing calendar as the Miami Winter Music Conference or Ibiza. Week one concentrates on house electro and progressive grooves and features names like Lee Burridge, Norman Jay and James Zabiela, while week two is on a more minimal and deep tech-house vibe including sets from Mark Knight and Steve Bug.
