Andrew Sachs will play a hospital patient in 'EastEnders'.
The veteran actor was confirmed to appear in the BBC One soap last year and will hit screens for a short stint beginning next Tuesday (17.03.15).
Following several months of illness for Stan Carter, played by Timothy West, the character will take a turn for the worse and will be taken to a nearby hospital, where he will meet Andrew's character named Cyril.
The 84-year-old actor will then feature as Stan's room-mate during a series of episodes which will see the character, who joined the show in 2014, pass away from terminal prostate cancer, leaving the whole Carter family in turmoil according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.
Andrew is renowned for appearing opposite John Cleese as Manuel in the comedy sitcom 'Fawlty Towers', but has previously appeared in other shows, including 'Coronation Street'.
In 2009, the star joined the rival soap for 27 episodes as the character Ramsay Clegg, the brother of shopkeeper Norris Cole, and featured in an episode of 'Casualty' in the previous year.
The role comes seven years after Andrew found himself in the middle of a media storm after comedians Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross left lewd voicemails on his answering machine during an episode of Russell's BBC Radio 6 Music show, which led to both stars being suspended from their roles within the BBC.
