Charlotte Hawkins: Baby Ella is a miracle
Charlotte Hawkins has hailed her and husband Mark Herbert's three-week-old daughter Ella Rose a "miracle" baby following her attempts to get pregnant for several years
Charlotte Hawkins has hailed her three-week-old daughter "a miracle baby".
The 39-year-old 'Good Morning Britain' presenter is thrilled to have finally welcomed her first child with her husband Mark Herbert after the couple tried for a baby for several years.
The blonde beauty previously admitted the pair had been seriously considering IVF treatment in the weeks leading up to her falling pregnant and confessed nothing could prepare her for the "moving experience" of holding the baby she "had wanted for such a long time".
She told HELLO! magazine: "It's all still a bit of a blur. We both had tears in our eyes when they placed Ella Rose on my chest after the birth.
"Nothing prepares you for that feeling. All of a sudden, this tiny being that you've been carrying around for nine months is there with you. It's a very moving experience.
"From our point of view, she was a miracle baby, on that we had wanted for such a long time. Even when I was pregnant and people asked me if I was excited, of course I was, but I wasn't going to be completely happy until she was delivered safely and in my arms."
Charlotte felt well prepared for her new arrival as she was already used to early starts after presenting Sky News' 'Sunrise' and the ITV show - which airs from 6:00 to 8:30am - over the past eight years.
She said: "I've been getting up in the middle of the night for the past eight years, so I'm at an advantage.
"I'm used to having to function on just four hours' sleep a night and grabbing catnaps where I can. It's quite good preparation for having a baby. That's the theory anyway."
The blonde beauty - who lost her father Frank a month before Ella Rose's birth - added the newborn has become a "positive force" in helping her to cope with his death.
She explained: "It is still very upsetting, but Ella Rose has been such a positive force for all of us and has given us something wonderful to focus on.
"It would have been lovely if he'd been able to see Ella Rose, but the main thing was being able to tell him that we were having a baby because we'd been trying for such a long time. He was thrilled - he had a tear in his eye."
