Iconic British indie rockers the first act announced as headlines at new Strathallan Castle location

The Libertines have been announced as one of the headline acts at T in the Park 2015.

The indie rockers are the first of the festival’s headline acts to be revealed, and will be playing in what looks set to be a historic year for the festival, as it moves to its new home of Strathallan Castle.

Having disbanded after the release of their second album, the band announced their return last summer, which they followed up with successful shows at Glasgow’s Barrowlands and London’s Hyde Park.

Commenting on the announcement, Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: ‘The Libertines are a truly iconic British band, revered as cult heroes by a generation of music fans and adored by the Scottish crowd. They chose Scotland as the destination for their live return on home soil last June, and raised the roof of the Barrowlands with two exhilarating shows.’

‘We can’t wait to welcome them back in what is a historic year for T in the Park, as we take up residency at our beautiful new home, Strathallan Castle. It’s going to be a very special year for T in the Park, and we can’t wait to welcome you all to Strathallan.'
