The Comedy.co.uk Awards 2014 results are announced

The ninth annual Comedy.co.uk award winners have been announced, with Radio 4's Cabin Pressure picking up the main award for Comedy of the Year.

The long-running radio show, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, also won Best British Radio Sitcom, and its writer John Finnemore managed to nab a third accolade for the fourth series of his John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, which took home the Best British Radio Sketch Show prize.

The awards are unique among comedy accolades, as results are compiled from a public vote, with no jury, shortlist or awards ceremony.

Best Returning British Sitcom went to Miranda, beating Outnumbered and Not Going Out, thanks to its successful Christmas series finales. Mackenzie Crook's Detectorists came out on top in the Best New British TV Sitcom category, plus there's a new series expected later this year.

Would I Lie to You? beat stiff competition from QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown for the Best British TV Panel Show, while Best British Radio Panel Show went to the evergreen I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

Unsurprisingly, it was the controversial Dapper Laughs: On the Pull that received the largest number of negative votes, with ITV's Celebrity Juice and, unexpectedly, mystery drama Jonathan Creek also having lost their lustre among voters.
