Joan Collins slams stars for sheep style
Dame Joan Collins doesn't think actresses are very adventurous with their choice of red carpet wear any more
Dame Joan Collins has slammed modern actresses as "sheep".
The 81-year-old actress thinks there isn't enough diversity on the red carpet and was left unimpressed by most of the fashions on display at the recent Golden Globe awards.
She said: "I thought the best dressed was Amal Clooney. Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep also looked good. Otherwise I didn't think much of the fashion.
"There seems to be a certain sheep mentality among some of the actresses to look the same.
"When I came here [to Hollywood] I was 21, which was still the golden age - Lana Turner, Barbara Stanwyck, Susan Hayward, Marilyn Monroe... Everybody had their own style.
"These women, including Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor, did their own hair and make-up and they always looked incredible."
Joan - who married fifth husband Percy Gibson in 2002 - doesn't understand why actresses choose to undergo cosmetic surgery because she thinks the results look "horrific".
She said: "I don't want to look like a plastic Barbie doll. I saw a very famous actress the other day. You could see the lumps under her skin from the fillers and she could barely move her face. It was horrific.
"Elective surgery is scary. A legendary actress memorably sent her maid to test the end results of the surgery and when she came back, she looked so good she decided to try it. The doctor cut a nerve and she was disfigured for life."
However, the 'Royals' star admits she has been tempted to go under the knife in the past, but is too "scared".
She added in an interview with Britain's HELLO! magazine: "I have thought about it. I pull my face back and think, 'Wouldn't I look better like this?' But I am too scared.
"I like my laugh lines - it would be crazy not to have any at my age - and luckily I have good cheekbones."
