New music from Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat
Listen to first track from incoming new album, The Most Important Place in the World
2011 Scottish Album of the Year winners Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat are back with new music. 'This Dark Desire' is the first single from their new record 'The Most Important Place In The World' and through label Chemikal Underground the duo have released the track for preview on Soundcloud.
They've certainly made fans wait since releasing 'career high' album 'Everything's Getting Older', their follow up supplants the encroachment of age as a primary theme of that album with the notion of the metropolis as femme fatale, a voluptuous siren promising opportunity and possibility.
Moffat says: 'It's a salute for the city and the secrets she hides; it's ticking clocks and dirty dishes; it's raising the devil on old equipment. It's about the life we want versus the life we need – and deciding which is which.'
Expect more of Moffat variously speaking, snarling and singing his candid tales along to jazz-inflected melodies so exquisite they barely belong to the gauche reality of the 21st century.
'The Most Important Place In The World' was recorded at Chem19 in Blantyre and Castle of Doom in Glasgow with producer Paul Savage (Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, King Creosote) in September and October 2014.
