Mark Vanselow - who's worked on an array of Hollywood films - has joked he chose his career path because he "failed at school"

Hollywood stuntman Mark Vanselow chose his career path because he "failed at school".

The action star - who's appeared in a number of blockbuster films, including the 'Die Hard' and Taken' franchises - said it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to secure a role in a Hollywood movie.

Asked how he got involved in the business, Mark joked: "I failed at school.

"Stunt work is something that you definitely have to seek out yourself. I mean, you get into it, you train with other stunt people and you kind of find out who the people are who know some co-ordinators.

"If they trust you, then they'll kind of offer you a shot to do something ... but you only get one shot at it and it's a long process."

Among Mark's impressive list of films is 'A Walk Among the Tombstones', which stars Oscar-winning actor Liam Neeson, and Mark is full of praise for the Irishman.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Liam and I have actually spent a lot of time on set together, building up to the fight sequences and the action sequences. We have to rehearse those and we try to really cater the scenes, you know, to what works for him and his on-screen character.

"He's a pretty awesome human being, that would be the best way to describe him. I think with Liam, what you see is what you get. He's awesome. He's a hardworking guy, he cares about the people around him and the work - he's really dedicated to all of those things.

"It's pretty amazing, wherever you go around the globe, people are always amazed at what a good guy he is. It's been an amazing experience to work with him."

'A Walk Among the Tombstones' is available on Blu-ray and DVD now, courtesy of eOne.
