Chris Pratt is in talks to star in 'Magnificent Seven'.
The 35-year-old actor is in early talks with MGM about taking on a leading role in the upcoming Antoine Fuqua remake of the 1960 western directed by John Sturges, Deadline reports.
Pratt would join Denzel Washington, who is already confirmed, as one of seven elite gunmen tasked with protecting their town, while the remaining five characters are still up for grabs.
The original movie starred Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson, among others, as the magnificent seven and, while Pratt's character isn't specifically based on one of these, he will play the role of Farraday.
MGM has been working on starting a remake for a while now, having originally developed a version for Tom Cruise.
'True Detective' writer Nic Pizzolatto wrote a draft script while John Lee Hancock came onboard to rewrite it, taking influence from the original inspiration, Akira Kurosawa's 'Seven Samurai'.
'Magnificent Seven' is set in post-Civil War America, as the Wild West comes to an end, and is expected to begin production in early 2015.
Meanwhile, Pratt - who recently starred in Marvel Comics movie 'Guardians of the Galaxy' - will next appear in the highly anticipated 'Jurassic World' remake.
