Featuring Witness, Mungo Hi Fi, Microtrauma, Craig Smith and Gasoline Dance Machine
If Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party isn't your cup of champagne and you'd rather see in the new year dancing underground, up close and personal with disco lights for fireworks, here's your guide to the best clubs to get your groove on...
Nightvision Presents Hogmanay
Doubling up as the end-of-season party for Nightvision’s first incursion into Edinburgh, the newly minted superclub collaboration between Musika and Xplicit has brightened the autumn and deserves your support as they welcome Birmingham’s Subb-An and ‘Bump and Grind’ producers Waze & Odyssey. Joining them will be local stars Craig Smith of Glasgow’s 6th Borough Project and Edinburgh’s Moda Black signee Theo Kottis.
Liquid Room, Wed 31 Dec
Kapital
Another of the success stories of Edinburgh’s 2014-vintage club scene, lively in comparison to its live music front, has been the reopening of La Belle Angèle following its destruction by fire 12 years ago. Expect a great Hogmanay here, as well-regarded techno night Kapital welcomes Microtrauma and Nick Dow, both representing Cologne-based minimal techno label Traum.
La Belle Angèle, Wed 31 Dec
Gasoline Dance Machine Hogmanay Hoedown
For the fourth year running, Cabaret Voltaire residents night GDM will be hosting the Hogmanay party in Blair street’s basement venue. Joining them will be Monte, producer, DJ and representative of Hamburg’s young Jeudi Records label, a club so close to the action it was born on the city’s infamous Reeperbahn.
Cabaret Voltaire, Wed 31 Dec
Wee Dub Hogmanay / FourByFour & Pulse
Hosting two great quality parties to see in the New Year, Studio 24 will have dub soundsystem action from Wee Dub downstairs, with special guests Mungo’s Hi Fi, and techno nights FourByFour and Pulse joining forces upstairs.
Studio 24, Wed 31 Dec
Witness Presents the Sneaky Pete’s All-Stars
With Witness hosting you can expect a bass and garage slant, but the venue’s the real star here. The small but sweaty Sneaky’s is one of Edinburgh’s finest club spaces, and their roster of residents should bring an exceptional party across a soundscape of genres.
Sneaky Pete’s, Wed 31 Dec
