Jamie Dornan has revealed that he signed a contract before he started shooting the film adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey', in which he stipulated that he didn't want his member to be in the film

Jamie Dornan refused to show his penis in 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

The 32-year-old actor will play the BDSM-obsessed character of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E. L. James' best-selling erotic novel, and has revealed that although he does strip off in the movie, he had a contract agreeing that his member wouldn't be shown.

He confessed to The Observer newspaper: "There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn't be seeing my, um... my todger."

When informed that 43-year-old actor Ewan McGregor is the opposite, and likes to expose himself in films, the star joked: "Does he? Well, maybe Ewan has a more impressive girth."

The film - which is set to be released in February 2015 - will see the model act opposite Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, but warned fans not to expect the couple to have too much sex, despite the saucy nature of the film.

He said: "You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don't want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic."

However, the hunk revealed that he is still unsure about how explicit the movie will be, as he hasn't watched it yet.

He added: "I haven't seen it at this stage, so it is hard for me to say. I'm aware what we shot, and it wasn't as if we shot a film without any action."

  • Directed by: Sam Taylor-Johnson
  • Cast: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk, Jennifer Ehle
  • UK release: 13 February 2015

Despite its troubling gender politics and distinct lack of plot, the likeable Johnson brings nuance and charm to a paper-thin character; Dornan manages to offer a hint of humanity; and given the many constraints, this sleek, fairly trim and occasionally sensual adaptation is the best imaginable outcome.
