A guide to the bonfire night fireworks display events in and around Manchester 2016
Including fireworks displays in the city centre, Tyldesley, Darwen and Stockport
It's nearly time to celebrate Guy Fawkes' failed attempt to kill the King again. Manchester is well-prepared, with a host of bonfire and firework events line-up this year to help you celebrate with a bang. It seems most of the city's parks are hosting the fun, with the celebrations kicking off at Debdale Park Bonfire and Firework Night on Sat 29 Oct, a traditional celebration with a funfair, fireworks and the lighting of the bonfire at 7pm. On Tue 1 Nov there's the Cringle Park display and on Wed 2 Nov there's Crumpsall Park. Both are free with fireworks starting at 7.30pm, and funfairs to keep everyone entertained.
Head to Brookdale Park (Sun 30 Oct) for a display the weekend before the main cluster of events, there will be a funfair and fireworks starting at 7.30pm. Actual Guy Fawkes events can be enjoyed at Platt Fields Park (Sat 5 Nov), which is free and comes with the added bonus of food stalls. Plus there's a free display in Wythenshawe Park (Sat 5 Nov) also on Bonfire Night.
If you want to escape the city for an evening, head to Darwen for the brilliantly named Wellybobs Family Bonfire and Fireworks (Sat 5 Nov). This one is particularly family friendly, with a special kids display at 7pm, before the main one at 8.30pm.
If you want to do your bit for charity, head south out of the city to Stockport for Cheadle's Big Bang Bonfire and Fireworks Display (Sat 5 Nov) which is in aid of the Trust Together – the bonfire gets lit at 7:30pm with the display starting at 8:15pm.
