Where to see bonfire night fireworks displays near Birmingham 2017
What time are Guy Fawkes fireworks in Edgbaston, Solihull, Tamworth, Bewdley and Bromsgrove
As the nights get shorter (and colder), Bonfire Night gets closer and Birmingham is ready to celebrate. Edgbaston Stadium promises good views for its Fireworks Spectacular on Sat 4 Nov, with a Capital FM DJ on hand to play seasonal favourites, plus there's hot food to warm you up.
In the south of the city is Solihull Round Table Fireworks Display (Sat 4 Nov), the largest in the area and free. The blood disorder charity Anthony Nolan will be on hand, seeking people to register as bone marrow donors; young men aged between 16 and 30 in particular are invited to sign up and give a saliva sample. Get there at 5.30pm for a 6.30pm display.
Outside the city in nearby Tamworth, you can feel the force at the sci-fi-themed Drayton Manor Fireworks on Fri 27, Sat 28 and Sun 29 Oct. A huge firework display is accompanied by music from Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy and many more. Last admission is 6pm, the fireworks kick off at 7pm, and the rides stay running until 9pm to keep the kids distracted. Tamworth Castle is hosting its own celebrations (Sat 4 Nov, fireworks start at 8pm), with the majestic backdrop of Britain's second biggest motte.
In Dudley, Himley Hall is hosting Himley Bonfire & Fireworks, which this year has a theme of 'Girl Power' (Sat 4 Nov). There'll be party tunes all evening from Heart FM, as well as a Funfair, and a free bus service has been laid on, so you can leave the car at home. Take note, though, that no alcohol is allowed at this event, so exactly why there's a free bus service is something of a mystery.
In Bewdley, West Midland Safari Park Firework Festival Weekend promises a two day celebration (Sat 4–Sun 5 Nov) with African themed music, late night rides and fireworks displays to set this one apart.
If your youngsters aren't keen on all the loud noise and banging that comes with fireworks, head to No Bangs Bonfire Night in Bromsgrove (Sun 5 Nov, gates open at 2pm). This traditional bonfire party replaces fireworks with sparklers. There'll be hot food and traditional music to keep adults entertained too.
