Kanye West's new album is like Timberland boots
Kanye West collaborator Malik Yusef has compared the rapper's new album to a pair of Timberland boots, and also revealed the LP is not completed, despite Kanye's hopes in July that it would be released before the end of 2014.
Kanye West's new album is "like a pair of Timberland" boots.
Malik Yusef, who has collaborated with the rapper throughout his career, has made the odd comparison between Kanye's upcoming music and the popular brand of footwear worn by Kanye over the years.
Discussing the hip-hop superstar's eagerly anticipated eighth studio album, the Chicago songwriter likened the sound to something that doesn't fit a previous category just like the fashionable brand.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: "This album is different. It's like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede.
"It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop, hip-hop, hip-hop.'"
In July, the 'Goldigger' rapper claimed his next LP would be released "most likely in September," but Malik has now confirmed that although they have "20 finished songs" the collection is still not complete.
He added: We're still working like a mother-f***er. We've been all around the world [recording]."
Despite having difficulties in finding time to complete the album, Malik was clear that it had been a much smoother process in comparison to Kanye's 2013 record 'Yeezus'.
He explained: "We fought over 'Yeezus' every day. There were no friendly disagreements. It was definitely a war. It was 'I don't give a f**k, Malik. It's a Kanye album, not a Malik Yusef album.' "
