Evening of live music and DJ sets, film screenings, talks, demonstrations and workshops at The Lighthouse

On Friday 24 October, The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture in Glasgow, will be transformed into a hub of creative activity for the first ever Lighthouse Late. The event celebrates design, music and cinema with a programme of live music and DJ sets, film screenings, talks, demonstrations and workshops lined up at the famous venue, which was the first public commission completed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Here's what you can expect on the night.

Live music from James Yorkston

The Fife born folk singer song writer and one of the founding members of the Fence Collective recently released his latest record The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society to critical acclaim.

Live music from Ella the Bird
Glasgow-based singer song writer Siobhan Wilson is renowned for her dulcet tones, and supported Willy Mason on tour last year.

Talks
Three of the UK's most influential graphic designers will be talking at the Lighthouse Late. Camden-based Ken Garland has been at the forefront of British design since the 1960s, while Tony Brook is the founder of award-winning London design studio Spin. Also speaking will be Jonathan Barnbrook, who has previously collaborated with Damien Hirst and David Bowie.

Film: God Help the Girl
The first feature film from Belle and Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch, this charming coming of age indie film set in Glasgow stars Emily Browning, Olly Alexander and Game of Thrones' Hannah Murray.

Music: DJs
Former Sons and Daughters vocalist Scott Paterson, Admiral Fallow bassist Joe Rattray and The Phantom Band's Iain Stewart will take to the decks between talks and live music.

Also on the night, there'll be a screening of a series of short films from The Urbanography Series and a demonstration by MAKLab on the impact of digital fabrication. Plus, get creative by taking part in a workshop with illustrator Alice Dansey-Wright or risograph print and design specialist Gabriella Marcella.

Host for the evening is Nicola Meighan.

Complimentary drinks at The Lighthouse Late for ticket holders (over 18s only) will be provided by Innis & Gunn and Caorunn Gin.
