Bette Midler has announced the release of her new studio album 'It's The Girls!'.

The multiple Grammy Award winner has returned to the studio for her first LP in eight years, which pays tribute to girl groups through the years.

She said: "A long time ago I fell in love with voices in harmony. In particular, the sound of female voices singing together.

"There were so many great girl groups in those days, I still listen as avidly as I ever did. This record is a small attempt to honour them for all the joy they brought to me and the world."

'It's The Girls' is a celebration of girl groups such as The Ronettes, The Boswell Sisters and The Chiffons as well as Motown acts like Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, and The Marvelettes.

'It's The Girls!' - her 13th studio album - will reunite the legendary pop star with her long-time collaborator and producer Marc Shaiman.

Details for an accompanying tour will be announced soon.

The album will be released on 17 November 2014 and can be pre-ordered now.
