Matt Damon is to join 'Manchester-by-the-Sea.'
The 43-year-old actor is set to reunite with writer and director Kenneth Lonergan, who he worked with on drama 'Margaret' in 2011, for the upcoming film.
The hunky star is reportedly in talks to take on the leading role as a Boston plumber, who returns to his hometown following the tragic death of his brother.
However, when he arrives he finds himself forced to take care of his sibling's 16-year-old son, but his ability to care for the youngster is rocked due to a secret tragedy that has struck in his past, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Pre-production is scheduled to begin today (08.09.14), with shooting expected to kick off later this month.
Meanwhile, Damon is also attached to 'The Martian,' which is based on an e-book by Andy Weir and described as a cross between 'Apollo 13' and 'Cast Away', with an American space explorer trapped on Mars and desperate to find a way back to Earth before his supplies run out.
It is believed the actor will schedule 'Manchester-by-the-Sea' in before he films the Fox sci-fi drama, which is being directed by Ridley Scott, in November.
