Kerrie Hayes stung by nettles on set of The Mill
Kerrie Hayes has revealed that while there weren't many accidents on the set of 'The Mill', she managed to get a nettle rash on her legs while filming in a field
Kerrie Hayes got a "horrific" nettle rash while filming 'The Mill'.
The 27-year-old actress stars as orphan Esther Price in the Channel 4 period drama and she's revealed that while there weren't many accidents on set - which is surprising as it was filmed at an old cotton mill - she did manage to get stung by nettles while shooting a scene for the second series.
Quizzed on whether anyone had been hurt while making the drama, which tells the story of life in the Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire during the 1830s, she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I got stung by some nettles! But no, everyone was all right actually.
"But also, because we were all running around in bare feet in the mill room and it was actually an old mill and the floor was ... the health and safety obviously try and make it as good as possible, but it was an old building so you had to be careful running around and if you ran around you got shouted at like a child.
"So we weren't allowed to fart about or anything but I'm surprised that no one hurt themselves. Everyone who had shoes on seemed to be tripping up but we were all in bare feet, it was quite ... you could have ripped your foot off on anything.
"That nettle rash was pretty horrific though. I'm a massive baby."
Kerrie also confessed that while it was difficult reprising the role when her character was meant to have aged four years, she was thrilled to be back working with the cast and crew again.
She explained: "I enjoyed it more so than the first one I think because obviously it was like coming back to the gang again and there were a lot more people in it this time so it was good banter.
"It was like coming home again."
'The Mill' Series 2 is out on DVD on September 8. Series 1 and 2 Box Set will also be available.
