Neil Gaiman confirms Hansel and Gretel film
Neil Gaiman, the author of 'Coraline', has confirmed that his upcoming graphic novel based on Hansel and Gretel will be turned into a film
Neil Gaiman's 'Hansel and Gretel' will be turned into a film.
The author's upcoming graphic novel - due to be released on October 28, 2014 - will be transformed into a film by 'The Hundred Foot Journey' producer, Juliet Blake.
Talking to Variety magazine about the collaboration, Neil shared: "I'm thrilled and delighted to be working with Juliet Blake to bring Hansel and Gretel to the world again, and to show people how much this story has to say to us.
"For me, retelling Hansel and Gretel was a way of telling an old tale in a way that made it immediate and true, and about us, now. It reminds us of how paper thin civilisation really is. It's about hunger, and about families."
The renowned author has already adapted his novels 'Coraline' and 'Stardust 'into successful movies, starring the likes of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Claire Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer.
The classic fairytale has already undergone the Hollywood treatment, after 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' was released in 2013, starring Jeremy Runner and Gemma Arterton, who is best known for her roles in 'St Trinian's' and 'Quantum of Solace'.
