Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Naomie Harris have joined the cast of upcoming animated movie 'Jungle Book: Origins'
Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Naomie Harris have joined the cast of 'Jungle Book: Origins'.
The 'Dark Knight Rises' star will voice the animated character of panther Bagheera in the upcoming Warner Bros. production, which will see Blanchett taking on the role of python Kaa, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The movie, which is based on the legendary book by Rudyard Kipling, will tell the story of orphaned boy Mowgli - who will be voiced by child actor Rohan Chand - and his life growing up in the jungle as he befriends several members of the animal kingdom.
Harris will lend her voice to the role of female wolf Nisha, with Eddie Marsan set to play her male companion Vihaan, while Peter Mullan will portray Akela, the leader of the wolf pack which raises the youngster.
Benedict Cumberbatch previously signed up to the part of evil tiger Shere Khan and Tom Hollander will play his subordinate, Tabaqui the jackal.
The production will be directed by 'Lord of the Rings' star Andy Serkis, who is also set to voice a part in the film.
Father and daughter team Steve and Callie Kloves have also joined forces as producer and script writer on the project respectively.
The motion picture will feature a mix of CG animation, live action and is slated for release on October 21, 2016.
