Finniston - Organised for Hi-Fi

This is the debut album from Glasgow-based guitar pop outfit Finniston, and maybe they’ll get better with time, but at the moment they sound as if they’re struggling to find their own distinctive voice. This is all reasonably accomplished strummy stuff from brother and sister pair Stevie Finnie and Jolene Crawford plus rhythm section, but not a single track here really sits up and grabs your attention. Songs like ‘Week Days Off’ and ‘Letting Go’ trundle along nicely enough, but there is neither the lyrical depth, the musical ingenuity nor the necessary charisma to make Finniston stand out from the crowd.
