The celebration of Scottish culture will take place in June 2014

Roddy Woomble, Julie Fowlis and Rachel Sermanni are among the music acts announced for Bannockburn Live, a new festival commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.

The event, which will take place on Sat 28 & Sun 29 Jun, will also feature Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie Maclean, best known for his classic hit 'Caledonia', along with Roddy Hart and The Lonesome Fire, Treacherous Orchestra and folk singer Karine Polwart.

In addition to musical entertainment, the festival will also have areas dedicated food and drink, history, theatre and storytelling and kids' events. The centrepiece of the festival will be a breathtaking re-enactment of the Battle of Bannockburn, conducted by Scottish culture and heritage charity Clanranald (whose previous work includes input on blockbusters like Gladiator and Robin Hood).
