Karen Gillan to star in US sitcom
US TV bosses have snapped up former 'Doctor Who' star Karen Gillan to star in a new sitcom called 'Selfie'.
Karen Gillan is set to star in US sitcom 'Selfie'.
The Scottish 'Doctor Who' actress has been snapped up by US channel ABC to play the lead role in a new comedic take on 'My Fair Lady', according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Karen will play self-centred Eliza Dooley, who is so concerned with garnering 'likes' and 'follows' on her various social networking profiles that she fails to notice that she isn't well-liked in real life.
Following a humiliating breakup which goes viral on the internet, Eliza garners more social media attention than every before - albeit for all the wrong reasons. The character enlists the help of a marketing expert to help repair her public image and get her life back on track.
The show will be produced by Emily Kapnek, the woman behind the hit sitcom 'Suburgatory', which airs on E4 in the UK.
The 26-year-old beauty is best known for her role as Amy Pond opposite Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor in 'Doctor Who'.
Karen has been winning over Hollywood since her departure from the BBC sci-fi drama and will next be seen in Marvel's big budget superhero blockbuster 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.
