Max George is reportedly looking to join Manchester-based soap, 'Coronation Street', once he splits from his band The Wanted after their upcoming tour
Max George may be set to join 'Coronation Street'.
The Wanted singer and his band mates announced last week that they would be going their separate ways following their upcoming US tour later this year, and it's now emerged that Max has been looking to trade his music career for a job in Weatherfield ever since dating Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina McIntyre on the soap.
A source close to the 'Glad You Came' star said: "Max knows a lot of people at 'Corrie', mainly through his previous relationship with Michelle.
"There were originally talks of him playing a character in the show on a short-term basis back in 2011, when the two were an item. But once the pair broke up that idea went out the window."
However, with Michelle's character being killed off later this year, it could mean the 25-year-old star's dreams of appearing on the Manchester-based soap come true.
The source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Now if a screen test goes well, Max could find himself landing a permanent role."
"Pop stars have worked well for the soap in the past, with Kym Marsh and Keith Duffy both proving a hit with viewers. It would be an ideal next step for Max as he prepares to leave The Wanted behind after they have done their tour."
Max claims he and his band mates - Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness and Tom Parker - are splitting up because their "personal lives have driven them apart".
