The BBC has unveiled Peter Capaldi's 'Doctor Who' costume, which includes a striking blue overcoat and has been compared to the clothes worn by the Third Doctor, who was portrayed by Jon Pertwee
Peter Capaldi's 'Doctor Who' costume is "100 per cent rebel Time Lord".
The BBC has revealed the Twelfth Doctor's new outfit, which sees Peter, 55, sporting a very dapper suit and dark blue overcoat.
The outfit - which was created by costume designer Howard Burden - is reminiscent of costumes worn by the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and the First Doctor (William Hartnell).
The striking blue coat, which features an eye-catching red lining, was made by Scottish fashion company Crombie.
The costume is completed by a smart white shirt and black Dr. Marten shoes.
Referring to some items of clothing worn by previous incarnations of the Time Lord, Peter said: "He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent rebel Time Lord."
'Doctor Who' executive producer Steven Moffat added: "New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over - Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!"
Peter has already begun filming the eighth series of the BBC sci-fi drama, which will hit screens later this year. He will be joined by Jenna-Louise Coleman (Clara Oswald), who was the final assistant to Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor.
BBC One controller Charlotte Moore commented: "Peter Capaldi's Doctor is officially recorded in history today with the unveiling of his new costume. It's sharp, smart and stylish - The Twelfth Time Lord means business."
