WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw 2008

You know the score by now: lots of grunting, grappling and men in lycra as yet another in the seemingly endless, but always popular, WWE wresting series hits the market. As you’d expect, on the next gen machines this looks better than ever, and of course there’s all the trimmings with flashy entrances, commentary and a phenomenally huge roster of fighters (from the Undertaker and Triple H to a bevy of wresting babes). The usual hard and heavy action has been beefed up with a fighting style system which you can use to power up your wrestler and assign various special abilities. The other big new feature is the addition of the ‘Extreme Championship Wrestling’, which means yet more wrestlers and more hardcore action as well as extra weapons, cheating, blood and violence.
This certainly adds a wee pep to the tried and tested formula. But at times it feels a bit too technical, leaving you craving a button-mashing power rage, but this is still entertaining stuff and the best wrestling title out there.
