Brendan O'Carroll launched into an X-rated rant at 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' critics backstage at the National Television Awards on Wednesday night (22.01.14)
Brendan O'Carroll claims TV critics can "f**k off".
The 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' creator and star scooped the Best Comedy accolade at the National Television Awards in London last night (22.01.14) and says the mark of public recognition is a big finger up to negative reviewers.
A jubilant Brendan ranted backstage: "F**k them! I do respect critics. I know they've got a job to do, but they'll always be a donkey telling the racehorse how he should have won the race.
"If they want to be a racehorse, run the race! Anyone can criticise me all they like, but as long as they write [about it], f**k off."
The comedian's cross-dressing sitcom beat Ricky Gervais' 'Derek', Miranda Hart's slapstick comedy 'Miranda' and US import 'The Big Bang Theory' to win the award.
Brendan also insisted he has no plans to end the show now spin-off film 'Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie' has been filmed, and he expects to write a fourth series as soon as he gets the time.
He told BANG Showbiz: "The Christmas specials are definitely going to be done. As far as a fourth series is concerned, it's down to a time element. I wouldn't rule out a fourth series at all.
"I love working for the BBC; I'm delighted to be part of the BBC family and I have been made to feel like family there. So, as long as they want to take something off me, I'll keep writing."
