Jonah Hill is in "complete and total shock" over his Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for 'The Wolf of Wall Street'

Jonah Hill is in "complete and total shock" over his Academy Awards nomination.

'The Wolf of Wall Street' star has earned a Best Supporting Actor nod for his portrayal of Donnie Azoff in Martin Scorsese's dark comedy and he admits he wasn't expecting the nomination at all.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I honestly was not expecting this, on a level you can't even imagine. Again, I'm clearly in shock. I didn't have a plan for celebrating today because I truly did not expect any of this!"

Hill's co-star Leonardo DiCaprio is also pleased to be nominated for Best Actor and says his role as scandalous stockbroker Jordan Belfort has been one of the toughest challenges of his career.

He said: "'The Wolf of Wall Street' has been a passion project of mine, and I found the role to be one of the most challenging and rewarding of my career. Congratulations to all of my fellow nominees and thank you to the Academy for this extraordinary recognition."

British filmmaker Steve McQueen, meanwhile, celebrates a staggering nine nominations for his epic slavery drama '12 Years a Slave', including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for leading man Chiwetel Ejiofor.

He enthused: "I'm extraordinarily happy for all the cast and crew of our '12 Years a Slave' family. This has been an amazing ride and to receive nine nominations from the Academy is testament to all of the hard work."
