Robin Thicke and Maroon 5 crossed the pond to rock the UK with a sublime set at London's The O2 on Saturday night (11.01.14)

Robin Thicke and Maroon 5 took London by storm with a pulsating gig at The O2 on Saturday night (11.01.14).

The 36-year-old singer/songwriter provided the perfect introduction to Maroon 5's barnstorming set packed full of greatest hits by commanding the stage from the outset as he showed off a more serious side to himself, leaving the scantily-clad dancers associated with his 'Blurred Lines' hit at home.

Robin spent part of his 40-minute set perched behind a piano as he showed off his superb vocal range, and he concluded his opening performance in perfect style by launching into the track everyone wanted to hear, 'Blurred Lines', which he introduced by screaming: "Let's get this party started now!"

With the crowed suitably warmed up thanks to Robin's superb showmanship the baton was passed onto the Californian group, who carried on where Robin - a Rémy Martin ambassador - had left off.

Fronted by the brilliant Adam Levine - voted Sexiest Man Alive last year by People magazine - the band rolled back the years with renditions of their 2007 single 'Won't Go Home Without You' and their 2002 hit 'She Will Be Loved', taken from their debut studio album 'Songs About Jane'.

The US rockers kept the audience on their feet with an energetic set and played their wildcard in the shape of 2011 hit 'Moves like Jagger' shortly before they left the stage to rapturous applause before returning for an encore.

The group mixed things up with a version of Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' before normality was restored with their number one hit from last year, 'Payphone', much to the delight of their elated supporters, who left The O2 with huge smiles on their faces.

Following the gig, Rémy Martin's ambassador Robin celebrated his performance by partying with a Rémy & Ginger in hand at nightspot Maddox in central London.

The singer is also in town to launch his limited edition VSOP bottle, which is available at Selfridges, RRP £44.99.
