Bastille and Disclosure lead the nominations at the 2014 BRIT Awards with four nods each.

The 'Pompeii' hitmakers and the electronic music duo will both battle it out for British Group, British Single, British Breakthrough Artist and British Album of the Year.

Speaking about the recognition, Dan Smith from Bastille said: "We're completely blown away by the four nominations! When we started the band we never thought we'd be recognised in such a way so the whole thing is an awesome surprise."

Ellie Goulding and dance collective Rudimental, who performed at 'The BRITs Are Coming' nominations event tonight (09.01.14) alongside Pixie Lott, are up for three awards each.

The 'Burn' singer, 27, who is also scheduled to perform at the ceremony on February 19, will battle it out against Jessie J, Birdy, Laura Marling and Laura Mvula for British Female Solo Artist.

She said: "To be nominated at the BRIT awards is a huge honour. I will always remember how important the BRITs were to me every year as a child and how exciting they were."

The blonde beauty is also nominated twice in the British Single category for 'Burn' and her duet with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, 'I Need Your Love.'

Two-time winner David Bowie, 67, who won his first BRIT 30 years ago, is up for British Male and the biggest award of the evening British Album of the Year for 'The Next Day' after emerging from a 10-year hiatus, while the Arctic Monkeys, who will open the awards show, are up for two awards, as are One Direction, who are up for British Group and British Single.

Bruno Mars, who is up for International Male Solo Artist, and Katy Perry, who is nominated for International Female Solo Artist, will also take to the stage at this year's ceremony in association with Mastercard at The O2 Arena in London.

Other nominees include Tom Odell, London Grammar, John Newman, Lorde, Drake, Olly Murs and Haim.

For the second year running, there will be no outstanding contribution award but the Best British Video category is being resurrected for the first time since 2002 and the winner will be decided on the night by fans using social media.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV on Wednesday 19th February.
