City Halls, Glasgow, Sat 11 & Sun 12 May
A triumph for curator Ilan Volkov, breathing new life into the orchestral scene with a mix of avant-classical, experimental rock and electronica, indie and performance art. Alvin Lucier's amplified teapots were a particular delight. Glasgow, with these amazing festivals you really are spoiling us.

Arcade Fire as The Reflektors

'There are giant papier mâché heads, group dance routines and a Devo cover ("Uncontrollable Urge"), then there’s a moment during their final song, ‘Wake Up’, as everyone in the Barras sings along, where Arcade Fire prove the power of music. It transcends simply being a gig and transforms into a shared experience, a brief magical moment where audience and band become one. Simply stunning.'

Another great Music Language festival, brought to an unforgettable close by the funkiest and most entertaining live band Glasgow has produced in quite some time. They were also incredible at Gnomegame, and ‘Dante & Pilgrim’ is one of the songs of the year.
