Five great Hogmanay club nights in Glasgow and Edinburgh
- Henry Northmore
- 17 December 2013
Featuring Optimo, Club Noir, Mardis Gras at Midnight and the Pi-Eyed New Year's Eve Meltdown
The pioneers of burlesque in Scotland host their biggest ever Hogmanay party. A mix of decadent glamour, cabaret and other delicious goodies. Expect music from the 1920s right up to last week, alongside speciality acts to dazzle and mesmerise (including Carlos Airhead flying in from London). Also don't forget this is Club Noir, so dress appropriately.
O2 Academy, Glasgow, Tue 31 Dec.
Having split their forces over both cities this Hogmanay (they're also hosting a party with Offbeat at La Cheetah in Glasgow), the #notsosilent team invite special guest Dickon (boss of Berlin-based Odd Socks Records) and local hero Kris Wasabi (of Wasabi Disco fame) to join resident Belch in creating some 'unashamed, unrelenting party tunes'.
Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh, Tue 31 Dec.
JD Twitch and JG Wilkes host their annual extravaganza in an Optimo-approved warehouse venue (please note change of venue from Glasgow School of Art). Golden Teacher will be playing live, plus guests, to be announced soon on Optimo's Facebook page.
Glue Factory, Glasgow, Tue 31 Dec.
Billed as 'Musika and Friends' the house club is joined by DJs from Ultragroove and We Own for this Hogmanay shindig. Plus soul, disco, boogie, house and funk in room two courtesy of Yogi Haughton and the Scottish Soul Weekender crew.
The Liquid Room, Edinburgh, Tue 31 Dec.
Not for the fainthearted, expect breackore, jungle and acid assaults from DJ Skull Vomit, USA Kings, Bassbin Terrorizer and more at this completely free old skool hardcore rave.
Audio, Glasgow, Tue 31 Dec.
