Ashley Taylor Dawson: Juggling shows is torture
Ashley Taylor Dawson says juggling 'Hollyoaks' and 'Strictly Come Dancing' is "torture" as he is missing seven-week old son Mason's milestones
Ashley Taylor Dawson says juggling 'Hollyoaks' and 'Strictly Come Dancing' is "torture".
The 31-year-old actor has been working hard on both shows and unfortunately his commitments have meant he has already missed some milestones reached by his seven-week old son Mason.
Ashley - who also has two-year-old Buddy with fiancee Karen McKay - told OK! magazine: "It's all crazy at the moment. It's been torture when it comes to the family thing. I've not really seen them for months.
"My baby is smiling and cooing. He just started smiling last week, which I missed. I just don't want to miss a minute of it. That's the hardest thing. My missus sends videos, but I'd not seen it before myself."
Ashley's elder son is refusing to speak to him when they do get chance to chat via Skype.
He said: "I Skype them but my eldest is playing hard to get now. He says he's missing Daddy, but when he's asked to speak to me, he's like, 'No!'. He's adorable. He's my absolute world. Both of them are."
In order to fulfill all his working commitments, Ashley is working 18 hour days and commuting between Liverpool and London every evening.
He explained: "My life is like 'Groundhog Day' from Monday to Thursday. I'm working on 'Hollyoaks' from 7.30am until 7.30pm. After work, I go straight to London for 'Strictly' and I'm there from 9.15 until 1am training. Then I drive home to do my lines, get to bed about 2am and do it all over again. It's relentless with very little sleep. But at the same time, it's been the best experience."
