Robbie Williams' latest single 'Go Gentle' is about his fears his daughter might meet someone like him
Robbie Williams' latest single is about how he fears his daughter might meet someone like him when she's older.
The new father says 'Go Gentle' was inspired by one-year-old Theodora Rose, affectionately known as Teddy, his first child with wife, actress Ayda Field.
During an interview with biographer and journalist Chris Heath on Facebook, he said: "[The track is about being] worried she might meet someone like me - and what she should do if she does.
"My daughter inspires my life greatly. There used to be a huge hole in my life that I wrote many albums about.
"I didn't realise it was a wife and daughter shaped hole, they've plugged that gap.
"Everything I do, I do for them now. When daddy goes to work it's daddy going to work, not Rob going to work. I feel like there's a purpose to everything."
Rob, whose new album 'Swings Both Ways' has become the 1,000th number one record, said he feels like he's on a "different planet" to the one he was 13 months ago and "everything's changed".
With his 40th birthday just around the corner, Rob says he's enjoying life and has no plans to retire.
He said: "I want to just go for as long as I can and be as relevant as I can and try and make records that touch people's hearts and become the fabrics of their lives. That's my goal."
