Marvel launches online comic service

Comic book creator Marvel has made thousands of back issues available online in a bid to attract younger fans.

One tenth of the 2,500 issues will be available free of charge for a limited time, while subscribers can peruse first issues of comics such as The Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk.

‘Our fan base is already on the internet,’ said Marvel president Dan Buckley.

‘It seemed like a natural way to go.’

New issues of comics will not go online until at least six months after they appear in print.
