Winona Ryder has dropped a huge hint she'll be starring in the 'Beetlejuice' sequel and admits she'd love to return to the role of Lydia Deetz
Winona Ryder has hinted she will be starring in a 'Beetlejuice' sequel.
The 42-year-old star looks set to appear in a follow-up to the 1988 film - in which she played Lydia Deetz, a teenager who can see a ghost couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) and befriends them.
She told The DailyBeast.com: "I'm kind of sworn to secrecy, but it sounds like it might be happening. It's not a remake, it's 27 years later.
"I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later."
Tim Burton directed the original fantasy horror film and he is involved in the plans for the sequel as well.
However, the 55-year-old filmmaker is currently waiting to see the new script from 'Dark Shadows' screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg before signing on to direct the project.
Ryder starred alongside Michael Keaton, who played bio-exorcist Beetlejuice who is trying to make ghost couple Adam Maitland (Baldwin) and Barbara Maitland (Davis) leave their house and stop bothering the new owners.
Ryder insists her return will be determined on whether Keaton and Burton are involved in the project.
She said: "I would never go near it if it was not Tim and Michael. Because those guys, I love."
