The art event creates 'a mad mélange of sound and visuals that really deserves to be seen'
Since 2010, Bring Your Own Beamer has spawned a nigh-endless worldwide chain of one-night exhibitions – from Berlin to Tokyo, Caracas to Copenhagen, New York to Glasgow – making a mad mélange of sound and visuals that really deserves to be seen. The concept is pretty simple: an array of artists each lug in a projector and speakers, mount them wherever they can, and the resultant concoction of noise and light explodes onto every inch of wall space, at different heights and different scales, creating an immersive, surreal environment of intense colour and din. What’s not to like? Following on from last year’s hugely successful event at the Glue Factory, the Whisky Bond are staging another Bring Your Own Beamer in their cavernous, rawly industrial exhibition space, featuring a host of local and international artists. 85A say: do it! We'll be going, and so should you.
Bring Your Own Beamer, The Whisky Bond, Glasgow, Fri 15 Nov. 85A’s Spit & Grind club night takes place at Nice’n’Sleazy, Glasgow, on Sat 23 Nov; a screening of their film, Chernozem, will take place at Summerhall, Edinburgh on Fri 6 Dec. 85a.org.uk
