'Thor' star Sir Anthony Hopkins claims his on-screen son Chris Hemsworth eats whole cans of tuna - including the can
Sir Anthony Hopkins says Chris Hemsworth eats whole cans of tuna - "including the can".
The 'Hannibal' actor - who stars alongside Hemsworth in 'Thor: The Dark World' - joked about the 30-year-old's high protein diet and revealed how his "amazing" co-star kept in shape for the titular role in the new blockbuster.
Speaking on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' yesterday (04.11.13), he said: "He's an amazing guy. You know he works out about five hours a day ... that's what he told me. And he eats whole cans of tuna, including the can, I think, because he has all that protein!"
The 75-year-old Oscar winner - who plays Thor's father Odin in the new film - also admitted he felt like the "old guy" next to his much younger stars.
He said: "For me to be in a movie like this with beautiful women like Natalie Portman and Rene Russo, and then with Tom Hiddleston, it's fun to be part of. I'm the old guy in it."
Hopkins - who was knighted by the Queen for his services to the arts in 1993 - even revealed that he struggled to understand the complicated script, which combines Marvel comic book superheroes with Nordic mythology, and often lied about his preparation during filming.
He said: "I don't know much about Nordic mythology - so reading through these scripts, I'll leave that to the experts. I think, 'Well, I don't need to know all this. I can't make head nor tail of it.' So I learn all my stuff and when the director says, 'You know how this fits in?' I say, 'Oh yeah, yeah, yeah', but I don't really."
He added: "I just stand there, turn up in my armour and my beard and that's it. You don't need to over analyse it. "
