Gemma Oaten 'excited' about roles after Emmerdale
Gemma Oaten has confirmed she's leaving 'Emmerdale' after playing Rachel Breckle for two years and she is confident her decision to quit was the right thing to do
Gemma Oaten is "excited" about future roles after she leaves 'Emmerdale' next year.
The 29-year-old actress - who has played Rachel Breckle in the ITV soap since 2011 - has confirmed reports she will make a dramatic exit from the Dales in January, and is confident that she's made the right decision to quit.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, she said: "It's true. [The response] has been mental but these are exciting times."
The brunette beauty - who was born in Yorkshire - also quashed rumours that she is leaving the programme to work in reality TV, and even went on to joke that nobody would be able to understand her Hull accent if she were to star in E4's reality series 'Made in Chelsea'.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Emmerdales been amazing & I'm excited for future acting roles (not reality TV like someone said. No one would understand me in Chelsea!) (sic)."
Gemma has been written out of the programme but will not be killed off, giving her the chance to return in the future.
Her alter-ego has had a rough ride over the past year after falling pregnant by married man Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) and her departure is expected to be the climax to the baby Archie storyline, but fans are kept guessing as to whether she leaves with her son or hands him over to his father.
