Duran Duran

Red Carpet Massacre (RCA)

In the 20-odd years since the original fab five went their separate ways, Duran Duran have plastered the cracks in their line-up with contributions from session musicians and legendary producers such as Chic’s Nile Rodgers. Having recently reassembled the original membership, rather than resting on their New Romantic laurels, the band have enlisted current international composing/producing whores Timbaland and Justin Timberlake to spruce up their latest album with a shiny, contemporary gloss. Sadly, aside from the furious jam of ‘Skin Divers’ and the undeniably catchy ‘Falling Apart’, there’s little these young upstarts can do to salvage Le Bon and co’s characteristically shallow offerings.

Duran Duran

The foppish 80s yacht-botherers return for their first full UK tour in seven years (although true fans will still be drying out their shoulder pads following their rain-soaked appearance at Edinburgh Castle in 2009), with a new album to punt.
