William Fichtner says the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie is very different from past incarnations of the films.

The new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie is unlike previous incarnations.

Actor William Fichtner - who is set to play villain Shredder in the latest take on the classic comic book franchise - has revealed the 2014 reboot will be very different compared to the lighter, "cartoon"-like films released in the past.

He said: "It always had sort of a bouncy cartoon feel to me, which is great, that's why it was appealing. [But] that's not this movie. It's not like any 'Mutant Ninja Turtles' thing you've ever seen before. It's freaky, they're cool, and they're mutants and they look awesome. It's tough and it's going to be really, really great."

The actor also hinted at his role in the film, suggesting that antagonist Shredder will have a deep history with the pizza-loving crime-fighters.

He told Flicks and the City: "I play a guy named Eric Sachs and we find out that Eric Sachs is somebody else too. I can't give away too much in the story but I can tell you that who Shredder is in the telling of this 'Turtles' is unlike any telling of the story before.

"His connection and relationship to the turtles is a bit surprising and for an actor playing it, the back story, which comes out in this film, is really intriguing. We made some changes while filming that I thought are just awesome."

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' actor Alan Ritchson will lead the film's cast as ninja turtle Raphael, while Pete Ploszek will play Leonardo, Jeremy Howard will play Donatello and Noel Fisher will play Michelangelo.

'Transformers' actress Megan Fox fills the lead female role in the movie as the turtles' TV news reporter best friend April O'Neil and 'Mirror, Mirror' actor Danny Woodburn will play their karate expert sensei Splinter.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' is due for release in June 2014.
