Raymond Blanc has angered 'Great British Bake Off' fans.
The 63-year-old celebrity chef took to his Twitter account to claim finalist Ruby Tandoh is too skinny to be a good cook, but the 21-year-old contestant, who is favourite to win the BBC Two show tonight (22.10.13), hit back at the top chef, branding him an "idiot".
Raymond wrote: "The Great British Bake Off. Not much skills, female tears (sic)"
Referring to former model, he added an apparent spoiler: "And a winner so thin it makes me doubt of her love for great cooking, baking. (sic)"
The Michelin-starred cook later apologised for the outburst and said he did not know who the winner was.
But Ruby hit back on Twitter, writing: "Female tears'?! And what has anyone's size got to do with it? I don't care if you're a patisserie king - don't be an idiot. (sic)"
'Bake Off' judge Paul Hollywood, 47, then posted: "Wow Raymond..... (sic)"
Raymond's rant led to fans hitting out at the chef on social networking sites, calling him a "fool" and many used the hashtag "#everydaysexism".
Following the abuse, Raymond later apologised to 'Bake Off' fans, writing: "Ok, sorry guys, I was a grumpy Frenchman this morning. I don't know who has won #GBBO, but can't wait to find out. (sic)"
However, Raymond also claimed he should replace Paul on the show, tweeting: "They need me. My countrymen are the original bakers, not the British (sic)"
Ruby, who is up against fellow contestants Frances Quinn, 31, and Kimberley Wilson, 30, in the final has divided the show's viewers after people claimed judge Paul flirted with her, which he denies.
The final of 'The Great British Bake Off' airs tonight on BBC Two at 8pm.
