BBC One has announced plans for a gymnastics-themed reality show with celebrities.

Following in the footsteps of ITV's 'Splash!' - which saw Olympic diver Tom Daley teach celebrities how to dive - the channel has commissioned a new Saturday night entertainment programme, tentatively titled 'Let's Get Ready to Tumble', to air in 2014.

The show will see a group of famous faces learn high-flying disciplines such as tumbling and vaulting in order to impress a panel of judges, as well as viewers, who will have the power to eliminate one of the contestants each week.

Katie Taylor, BBC's Controller of Entertainment and Events said: "One thing's for certain, you can expect the celebs to be pushed out of their comfort zone in what is probably the most physically demanding show of its kind anywhere in the world."

The celebrities will receive first class training from the team who helped whip Olympic gymnasts Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle into shape for the London 2012 games.

Both Louis and Beth have enjoyed success in the reality TV field since their Olympic glory, with Louis winning 'Strictly Come Dancing' in 2012 and Beth being crowned 'Dancing on Ice' champion earlier this year.

Meanwhile, ITV's 'Splash!' is expected to return for a second series in 2014.
