Regiment pipe band launch new album

The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards yesterday launched their new album at Edinburgh Castle, some 35 years after the regiment enjoyed six weeks at number one with a recording of Amazing Grace.

The soldiers announced a £1 million recording deal with Universal Music last month, and have since received interest from Glastonbury and T in the Park.

The album, Spirit of the Glen, includes covers of songs by Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart, as well as Scottish ballads.

Pipe Major Derek Potter said: ‘We’re overwhelmed by the amount of interest in our music, and we’re just happy to be able to get it heard by a wider audience.

‘We hope to have the nation converted to bagpiping once we’ve released this record.’
