Crate Digging: DJ Pierre, aka Nathaniel Pierre Jones

We asked DJ Pierre to give us his top five tracks to play in the club. Here's how he responded

Nathan Lee - 'Chocolate Cadillac'

(Guest House)
Loving the disco loop on this, Nathan Lee sampled it up just right. The energy is high while maintaining that soulful funky disco flow.

The Voice - 'Shut Up And Dance'

(1605)
Nice soulful house vibe with a tech house edge. You can't mess with that bassline and The Voice is so smooth I imagine it's me talking! 'You ain't at work, now dance!'

Vincenzo - 'Phantom Image'

(Poker Flat)
This track takes me back to Old skool Chicago. Nice, deep and tracky.
This track is unavailable to stream. Buy it on Amazon.co.uk.

Rhauder - 'Acid Jam'

(Polymorph)
When I first heard this track all I could think was, 'this is one funky acid track!' Loving shuffle on the 303 & drums make this track killer and always in rotation.

Detroit Grand Pubahs - 'Acid Dreams (Pierre's AC!D Face Remix)'

(AA Trax Records)
Detroit Grand Pubahs have made the first disco acid! I mean when you hear the acid line you think Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. With the hard drums and dramatic builds it's prime for peak time!
This track is unavailable to stream. Buy it on Amazon.co.uk.

DJ Pierre headlines The Blue Room at the Scottish Soulful Weekender alongside DJ Spinna, Motor City Drum Ensemble, LTJ Xperience, Bob Jeffries and more at The Cairndale Hotel, Dumfries, Fri 1-Sun 3 Nov.

SSW4 The Preston Weekender

House, funk, soul and disco grooves featuring Ann Sexton, Garfield Fleming, Soul Sam, Jelly Roll Soul and many, many others.
