David Tennant has been cast in US remake of 'Broadchurch'.
The 42-year-old actor - who became a household name as the 10th Doctor on sci-fi series 'Doctor Who' - played Detective Inspector Alec Hardy in the British crime drama, and is now set to star in Fox's American adaptation.
According to TV Guide magazine, David will put on an American accent as he portrays a similar role to Alec, who moved to the seaside town of Broadchurch in a bid to seek a quieter life after working on a major murder trial, but found himself investigating the case of a young dead boy.
The US show is expected to begin shooting in January and will reunite David with 'Broadchurch' creator Chris Chibnall, who is executive producer of the US adaptation and will write the premiere episode.
The British series was a huge success and became the most-watched new drama of 2013, attracting more than 10 million viewers for its season finale, but Chris hopes the new adaptation will be even more successful.
He previously said: "We're very excited. I think there's a really great opportunity to make something that is hopefully as good if not better than the British version."
The US adaptation is expected to air between 2014 and 2015.
