Arctic Monkeys want to be the "biggest band in the world".

The 'Do I Wanna Know' group have grown into one of the largest bands in the UK with their fifth album 'AM' and are daunted by the prospect they could soon be one of the biggest groups on the planet.

Singer Alex Turner said, with a hint of sarcasm: "Do we want to be the biggest band in the world? I dunno. Do we want the 3D f***ing live show? Maybe. I wouldn't mind being in 3D. F**k it. Yeah we do want to be the biggest band in the world. I want a f***ing zip line."

Drummer Matt Helders pointed out the band - which also includes Jamie Cook and Nick O'Malley - all became famous while still teenagers and never had dreams of becoming as big as they now are.

He explained to Q magazine: "Being a big band wasn't where we saw it going. This has taken us with it, in a way. But we've hopefully learned how to be a band who can put on a good show in a big place."

The stomping Sheffield tykes have graduated from songs about chip shops and taxi ranks, but the ferocious singalong favourites of old should also make an appearance.
