X Factor wannabes fall foul of Antigua heat
Several 'X Factor' hopefuls in Nicole Scherzinger's Girls category felt sick after struggling to sing in the intense Caribbean heat while filming the Judges' Houses stage of the competition in Antigua
Several 'X Factor' contestants fell ill after filming in intense heat in the Caribbean.
The six wannabes in the Girls category were left feeling sick and limp after attempting to impress judge Nicole Scherzinger and her guest mentor Mary J. Blige during the Judges' Houses stage of the competition in Antigua, where temperatures soared to the 35 degrees Celsius.
An insider said: "Filming in Antigua may have been beautiful but it was hard work for everyone.
"The heat was really intense and it really affected the girls, some of whom had never known anything like it before. The girls all complained of feeling unwell and the constant heat really sucked the life out of them.
"One of the girls also suffered an allergic reaction while another was put on emergency voice rest by doctors who feared she might not be able to perform.
"Bosses really had to battle to get through filming."
Nicole chose her favoured three to progress to the live finals of the competition leaving the losing trio devastated about the outcome, so much so show host Dermot O'Leary snubbed the first class lounge at the airport to console the hapless hopefuls.
An insider added to The Sun newspaper: "The three who didn't make it through were absolutely gutted and there were a lot of tears.
"Dermot really felt for them and decided to stay with them at the airport in order to try and cheer them up."
