Heather Mills slams media live on television
- 1 November 2007
Heather Mills in a live television interview has slammed her treatment by the media, comparing it to Princess Diana and the mother of missing Madeleine, Kate McCann.
The former model, who is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings with Sir Paul McCartney, also claims to have received death threats from an ‘underground movement’.
Her slot on GMTV was extended by the news programme as she warned off her perceived perpetrators.
‘I have a box of evidence that’s going to a certain person should anything happen to me, so if you top me off, it’s still going to that person, and the truth will come out,’ she said.
‘There is so much fear from a certain party of the truth coming out that lots of things have been put out and done, so the police came round and said ‘you have had serious death threats from an underground movement’.’
She then criticised the press for accusing her of ‘crying wolf’ over her 999 calls.
Lady McCartney also said she had been offered nothing by the former Beatle, with whom she has four-year-old Beatrice, and owes £1.5 million in legal fees.
‘I’m gagged at the moment because I’m not allowed to say a word while the media are fed this spin by a certain corner.’
The emotional outburst, which at times saw Lady McCartney address the camera directly, lasted 20 minutes.
