NoViolet Bulawayo, Jhumpa Lahiri and Ruth Ozeki also in running for prestigious literary prize

The shortlist for the Man Booker Prize 2013 has been announced, with NoViolet Bulawayo, Eleanor Catton, Jim Crace, Jhumpa Lahiri, Ruth Ozeki and Colm Toibin all in the running for the prestigious literary prize. The six authors were chosen from a longlist that also included Tash Aw, Colum McCann and Charlotte Mendelson by a panel of judges: Robert MacFarlane, Martha Kearney, Stuart Kelly, Natalie Haynes and Robert Douglas-Fairhurst. The winner, who will be awarded £50000 prize money, will be announced on Tue 15 Oct.
